HEAD LICE
Head Lice is another common childhood condition, which many parents dread due to its persistent nature.
It can be hard to diagnose visually, but a lot easier to spot via detection combing. Learn about how to effectively diagnose your child’s Head Lice via detection combing here.
GETTING TREATMENT
You do not need to see your GP for treatment for Head Lice. Your pharmacist will be able to recommend an over-the-counter lotion or spray and give you advice about how to use it correctly.
Regular and thorough treatment is key to treating Head Lice.
Wet combing, lotions and sprays are all viable treatment options.

THINGS TO REMEMBER
Head lice are very common, "it's thought that up to one in three children in the UK may get head lice at some point during the year." (Reference, NHS.UK. February 2016)
The itching experienced by your child is NOT caused by the head lice biting the scalp. It is caused by an allergy to them.
